Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has signed agreements to license production and marketing of three hydraulic marine machinery in combination (deck cranes – steering gears – deck machinery) based on company technology to Jiangsu Masada Heavy Industries Co, Ltd. (formerly Nantong Masada Ship Machinery Co., Ltd.), in Jiangsu Province, China.
MHI licensed its deck crane technology to Jiangsu Masada in 2008 to be followed by its steering gears and deck machinery technology in 2012. After the first license agreement a 30,000 square meter plant dedicated to deck crane manufacture was built with MHI’s guidance. Production got under way at the plant in 2009. Under the second license agreement the Hydraulic equipment to drive the machinery of the steering gear and deck machinery technologies is supplied by MHI. With the addition of these products, Jiangsu Masada has become the only Chinese manufacturer able to provide all three products under the same brand name – Mitsubishi.
Through the years the company has built up a solid delivery track record in both products series, winning customers’ high acclaim for high reliability, durability and excellent response. Going forward MHI will further strengthen its aggressive marketing activities for Mitsubishi brand marine machinery as it maintains and further develop its solid collaborative relationship with Jiangsu Masada. Plans call for Jiangsu Masada to begin operation of a new plant having more-than-double the production capacity of its present factory, thus driving acceleration of its products’ market penetration.
Note: Nantong city is situated on the northern bank of the Yangtze River approximately 110 kilometers northwest of Shanghai. More than 800 Japanese companies are located here.
